SUMMER SHOW 2022

SUNDAY July 3rd 2022

2.00-4.00 pm Hollingbourne Village Hall

Set up from 10am-12 noon (or from 9am if you are planning to attend a church service)

 There will be no charge for entering. Place cards will be awarded but no prizes and no cups.

VEGETABLE & FRUIT CLASSES:

  1.   3  Potatoes (white/coloured)

  2.   3  Carrots    (1 cultivar and tops trimmed)

  3.   1  Lettuce

  4.   3  Beetroot  (tops trimmed)

  5.   3  Onions    (tops trimmed)

  6.   6  Pods of peas

  7.   6  Pods of broad beans

  8.   6  Pods of runner beans

  9.   2  Courgettes

  10.   3  Tomatoes

  11.   7  Cherry tomatoes  (on a plate)

  12.   2  Vegetables of one type not listed elsewhere on the schedule

  13.   3  Vases of named culinary herbs

  14.   6  Soft fruits (on a plate)

  15.   2  Same variety of other fruit

 

FLOWER CLASSES:

 

  1.   3  Stems of hybrid tea roses  (single blooms)

  2.   3  Stems of any other rose (single or clusters)

  3.   1  Bowl of roses (with their own foliage)    Ruth Money Trophy

  4.   1  Pot plant in flower (pot not exceeding 13cm/5in)

  5.   1  Pot plant in flower (pot over 13cm/5in)

  6.   1  Foliage pot plant

  7.   3  Stems of dahlias

  8.   3  Stems 1 variety of annuals or biennials

  9.   3  Stems 1 variety of hardy herbaceous perennial

  10.   3  Stems 1 variety of bulbous plant  (eg, lily, allium, gladioli or crocosmia)

  11.   3  Stems 1 variety of flowering shrub or climber

 

FLORAL ART:

  1.      An arrangement of flowers/foliage/fruit.

  2.      150 Years Celebration arrangement

  3.      Tea cup and saucer arrangement

CRAFT CLASS:

  1.     Floral themed card in any medium

HOME ECONOMICS:

  1.   5  Unfilled meringues

  2.   5  Celebration Cup Cakes

  3.   A celebration Victoria Sandwich

  4.   1  454g/1lb pot of homemade Strawberry Jam

 

CHILDREN:

Work together to create a frieze of folk attending the first Flower Show in Hollingbourne in 1872

 

Children could enter the cookery or craft and they would be judged separately on the day.
